BUILDING BROADBAND FOR
NORTHERN ILLINOIS

iFiber was developed to address the issue of limited broadband capacity, speed and service in nine counties of northwest Illinois. iFiber is a provider of extremely high speed (1Gb) network transport services to both the public and private sector. It provides subsidized access directly to eligible public sector organizations such as schools, community colleges, libraries, healthcare facilities, municipalities, county and public safety facilities.

iFiber is a collaboration of representatives from Northern Illinois University, LaSalle County, North Central Illinois Council of Governments, the City of Rockford, Boone County and Blackhawk Hills Regional Council. They came together to develop a proposal in response to the National Information and Telecommunications Agency's (NTIA) Broadband Technology Opportunity Program.

Businesses/Homes

iFiber will offer connectivity to third-party providers, who will in turn be offering connectivity to businesses and homes in the iFiber region. At this time, iFiber is establishing partnerships with local and regional Internet providers who will be expanding coverage from its network to businesses and households.  Once service is available in specific areas, Service Providers will be reaching out to residents and businesses.
